When an object is discharged what has happened to it?

What is a good definition of ';discharged';?When an object is discharged what has happened to it?
An object has an electrostatic charge if it has an excess or deficit of electrons. It has become ';discharged'; when it has lost

the electrostatic charge.

For example, the static charge built up on a car as its drives may be discharged by stepping out of the car and touching it, allowing the excess electrons to travel to the ground through your body.
